Making ends meet

I would like to add to Monday’s excellent Sound Off posts praising teachers that many teachers also have second jobs in order to make ends meet.

Teachers are not underpaid

I’m sure some teachers do work hard. It must be grueling on them to come back two days early from their two-month paid vacation for a workshop and to decorate their classrooms. As for coaches and school bus drivers, they all get stipends for their work. They spend more time with their families than any other profession gets to do. I know a lot of teachers and every one of them are home by 4 p.m. everyday. I’m not saying teachers do not work, but to think that they are underpaid is a joke.
