Sound Off for March 21
Private vs. public school
If you choose to send your child to a private school, more power to you. But their pay should come from private funds. You are pulling resources from public schools, which comes with a cost. If you use the excuse that you pay taxes, we’ll so do I lot of us who have no child in school.
How insurance cameras work
The camera reads the vehicle tag and compares it to the Mississippi state insurance database. It’s your vehicle that is insured, not you. You are listed with the auto insurance company (if you’ve actually bought insurance) as a covered driver. If anyone is driving an uninsured vehicle, the vehicle is subject to the fine if detected. The fine is issued to the associated owner listed on the registration. Only liability coverage is required by the state to pay for any damages that vehicle may cause. You’re perfectly welcome to pay for any repairs to your own vehicle if you choose to do so and not buy collision or comprehensive insurance for the vehicle.
Gas prices and the drive-thru
I get a kick out of people complaining about gas prices yet they spend much time running their engines while waiting at the drive through. Park your car and walk in. Not only will you save gas you will also get some exercise.
Keep the state income tax
Keep the state income tax. We’re used to it. Abolish gasoline and food tax, which are essential products and would be more help to lower and middle income taxpayers.
