Sound Off for March 10, 2022
Thank you
Thank you, Dr. Thomas Dobbs, for being our state health officer for the Mississippi State Department of Health during the horrid COVID pandemic. You made “the worst of (COVID) times” better for us. Don’t leave Mississippi. You have our support and best wishes for your future endeavors.
A question
I guess my Sound Off didn’t fit your agenda. Here it is again. Why are truckers wasting precious gas creeping around the D.C. beltway when they could be helping with the supply chain issue that’s devastating our country?
Mike Pence
So Mike Pence is hinting at a run in 2024? Is there anyone that thinks he won’t run? After all, he is a lock-stepping Republican. He knows how to follow orders. He is a lawyer that only worked about two years before learning that politics and other people’s money is far more rewarding than a nine-to-five. Fortunately, Trump will shred him to pieces in any exchange of ideas.
A solution?
There are many ways to save money on fuel but the best way to stop paying too much at the pump is to not vote for Democrats.
The consequences
With an president determined to cripple our oil industry, we may be unwittingly helping. As it turns out, many money managers and banks in charge of trillions in 401k funds and retirement funds are climate activists and are delighted to deny money needed to finance energy exploration. Add to this the Russia situation and you have the situation in which we find ourselves. Elections do indeed have consequences.
The media
Local, state and national media continue to report that the price of oil is soaring while almost totally ignoring the incredible profits that the big oil companies are raking in. Big oil and its stockholders are making billions on backs of ordinary citizens while the conventional media, as well as social media, seen only interested in wanting to blame President Biden who, by the way, has no authority to set the price of gas. Yes, I know all about the Keystone Pipeline. But, do the research: stopping the construction of that pipeline would have had only a small impact on the availability of Canadian crude to American refineries who, in turn, would have shipped the refined crude overseas. In any event, the pipeline would not have been completed in this decade.
A disease?
The Democratic Party and the media’s continued focus on Donald Trump now meets the diagnostic criteria for obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Truth matters
We all support Joe Biden in this time of crisis, but he should not engage in untruths about gas prices. It began from inflation that occurred in early December, when our supply and logistic chains could not meet the demands. This included the cost of food, materials and gasoline. Yes, it is politically damaging as the public see rising prices on the service station signs, but the inflation began well before the Ukraine invasion.
