Sound Off for March 8, 2022
Keep it clean
Courthouse Road Is not the only road covered in trash. We have been calling the city for months to please pick up litter on our road to no avail. However, our citizens and some businesses don’t seem to really care. People, y’all need to be proud of where you live and help keep it clean. Take your trash home or find a trash can to place it in.
Rude actions
I once asked in a Sound Off “How obtuse must someone be to think it’s OK to play a phone conversation or video on speakerphone in a restaurant?“ I got my answer Thursday. A woman in a doctor’s waiting room had a long conversation on speaker to the great annoyance of the 10 people waiting. Even when I played “Hello Darlin’“ at maximum volume on my own phone, she never slowed down.
Fix needed
How much longer will Biden wait to fix gas availability at a reasonable price? Food prices? Talk, but no action.
Campaign slogan?
Keep gas prices high. Vote Democrat.
Use properly
The Strategic Oil Reserve should be used for the reasons it was created; fuel shortages, which we are likely to be facing soon because of our president’s uncanny ability to mess things up. The reserve should not be used for an Ill-conceived PR boost by temporarily reducing prices at the pump.
Brain drain
I came from up north and moved here. I love it here. About half of all the people I know came here from another state, people of all ethnic backgrounds. Isn’t this a great country? If you prefer another state, there are 49 other choices available. And my brain and those of the people other people I know have not drained a bit.
A response
This is to the person who wrote that “people think gas prices have risen because of electric cars.” Most people remember that before the last presidential election, the U .S. was oil independent.
Fake news
Putin wants you to believe that live reporting by all the major news agencies and the actual war footage from Ukraine that you see on TV is “fake news.” That sounds very familiar. Where have I heard that before?
Staying here
After reading the article about the critical race theory Senate bill, which is much ado about nothing, it answers the question of a previous article about brain drain in the state. As long as Mississippi and its leaders continue to live in its racist past, it has very little to offer our younger generation as incentive to stay here.
