An insurance pool

Mississippi should invest the BP oil spill and stimulus money they already made interest from and form a disaster insurance pool. Homeowners can pay into it. That’s what rich people do. They bank the value of the house and use it to rebuild or repair. Insurance is for we poor folks.

Abuse of wind pool funds

Nobody has to tell us how devastating hurricanes can be to Coastal communities. The southern six counties pay into the state wind pool for a specific purpose. Taking the funds in the wind pool that are designed to pay for hurricane damage and using that money for purposes that it was not intended for is unlawful. Can we take the state Legislature to court to protect these funds from abuse so the money can be used for it’s intended purpose? Contact your congressmen to fight this ill-advised abuse of funds that leaves us ill-prepared for the next hurricane disaster and drives up insurance rates.

Was very sorry to hear Lee Bond is leaving. Although I never worked at any of the Singing River hospitals, I have always admired how he supported the staff throughout the COVID crisis. He was always honest and transparent, which is a breath of fresh air compared to other area hospitals administrations. Best of luck to you sir. Whatever your future plans, I’m convinced they will be lucky to have you.

Dead tree

There is a dead tree with large branches hanging over Pass Road in Gulfport, just past Teagarden Road. It sits in front of an insurance agency on the north side of Pass Road. It could be the city’s parcel of land. It doesn’t matter who is responsible, but it needs to be cut down. It is just a matter of time when the limbs will fall onto the much traveled road and odds are it will hit a vehicle.
