RV lot proposal

The proposal to establish a 42-lot RV park at the south end of 38th Avenue in Gulfport stinks on every level. It’s too near the water, and would be between some historic houses that were painstakingly restored after Hurricane Katrina, as well as numerous new houses. The lot is not zoned for it. Traffic on the west side is already heavy from the casino, and crime is up. Homeless people also camp in the woods nearby from time to time. Ditch this proposal as soon as possible!

Leaving bank after 50 years

The Sound Off about bank teller training sounds like the experience I had. The banks are having a difficult time training tellers. I understand that, but being rude is not necessary. After waiting in line while the supervisor was assisting another teller, I let the person behind me go ahead of me. The tellers were polite and cheerful. The supervisor ignored the request by my teller that she needed help. After two more customers were assisted by the supervisor, I spoke up and said I had been waiting several minutes for her help. She looked up with a scroll on her face and said she was helping another customer, the third one after me. I walked out after banking there over 50 years and won’t be back.

Toll bridge

The Biloxi mayor and city council should be looking at other options, such as turning the bridge over to the state to receive state funds to rebuild it or getting the state to approve a tourism tax on hotel rooms. This proposal will cost the average family with two vehicles an additional $1000 per year to get to work or get kids to school. Then, when others choose to take other routes and the bridge doesn’t make the money, the city is counting on, it will be up to the city to supplement that income just like the failed baseball stadium we are paying for. Hopefully our mayor and city council know if they approve this they might as well not run for reelection.

School rules

I don’t believe the story is about the dress code rules and enforcement. The bigger issue to me is the fact that the parents are not contacted to understand or correct the problem. Instead the child is thrown into in-school suspension, with no opportunity to make a phone call. That’s like jail.
