Free college?
Yes, college is more expensive today. Everything is. Fifty years ago you could by a new car for $3,000. Most of the people you come in contact with every day work a job that doesn’t require a degree. What about the high school graduate who takes out a loan to buy a car to get to their job 20 miles away or gets a loan to start a small business? They pay their loans and have a tougher road to success. With taxpayer-paid free college, who determines who goes to Harvard and who goes junior college? It will be Washington bureaucrats and politicians.
Masks at Walmart
N95 masks were being given away at entrance to a local Walmart on Sunday.
Do your own research
I wish people would research topics before commenting. Loan forgiveness is for varying reasons. If a person has a total and permanent disability, their loan may be forgiven. Mostly it is to encourage and support people who work in public service jobs — like military, school teachers, nurses, not-for-profit organizations, etc. for at least five years and have paid made the equivalent of 10 years of payments on their loans.
100K in student loans
I figured what a $100k student loan would cost someone over a 30 year working career. It comes in less than $278 a month. Not a bad investment for a college degree and a boasted monthly income worth much more than that. Besides, $278 in 25-30 years will be pennies due to inflation and pay raises. My child has that student loan amount. Government doesn’t owe us anything.
