A suggestion

Driving down U.S. 90 there are numerous light poles down that have been hit by cars. Wouldn’t it possibly help if there were reflective tape on the lower part of the posts that would shine at night? But I also agree that drivers should stay on the asphalt.

OK to ask

I’m a retired nurse and I am appalled by nurses who refuse to get vaccinated because they resent being told to do it. Also patients have just as much right to ask if they are vaccinated. The job of a nurse is to protect the health of the patient. They need to know that they are in a safe environment. I suggest hospitals transfer these “nurses” to areas without direct patient care.

Just in case

A person in Sound Off asked, “Why do you have loaded guns for 30 years if you never used them?” I have smoke alarms in my house, even though my house has never caught fire. The obvious answer is that if they/it is ever needed, you have them.

Still getting blamed

It’s not that people want to snuff history. It is that some people want to drop the past. The way civilization was 50 or 100 or 200 years ago is nothing we can change. We are only stirring up more hate. My generation, my kids and grandkids had nothing to do with it. But we are getting blamed still today.

A kinship

Folks like Rudy Giuliani, once they sucked up to Donald Trump, their souls flitted away. Or, more likely, went missing long before. Which is what made them feel a kinship to Trump

Just facts

I am a former teacher of facts and truths of history, political science, civics and state law for 48 years. Sending in facts that dispute and disprove the ill informed, unsubstantiated, propaganda, even lies, printed daily in Sound Off are usually ignored. No facts or truths needed here, thank you very much. The Liz Chaney no re-election piece is the perfect example of nonsense printed as fact.

Community forum

I, too, get upset when I see falsehoods printed in Sound Off as though they were facts. I guess the idea is to let Sound Off be a forum for anyone to speak their piece, and that goal is being met. I also notice that many people spout Fox News and other like news sources as facts when they are not facts.

Quiet neighborhood?

In two different articles on the New Year’s Eve shootings, Gaston Point was described as an otherwise quiet neighborhood. Quiet neighborhoods do not have block parties with AR-15 rifles and semi-automatic guns at the ready.

Equal treatment

Can anyone explain to me why all the anti-vaxers are displaying “hands off my body” and “my body, my choice” signs at their demonstrations but don’t seem to notice the irony of the pro abortion demonstrators carrying the same signs. If they want the freedom of choice over their bodies, shouldn’t they want others to have that same freedom? You cannot have it both ways, wanting a freedom for yourself while denying the same freedom for others. The COVID virus is highly contagious and easily transmitted to anyone around them. Pregnancy is not.
