OK to disagree
Why is political democracy so important? Because people disagree with one another. That might sound too obvious to say but it is profoundly important. Sometimes people disagree vehemently. But in a healthy democracy disagreements are decided by ballots, not bullets. By thoughtful, informed discussions and votes, not by insults, intimidation, lies, cheating or violence. The alternatives to democracy are oppressive and bloody. Just look at the violence and suffering in Afghanistan now. Look at history. Let’s learn from it, not repeat it.
Con job?
This Wall Street stock market con is not sustainable. My husband and I have had ups and downs in our 401Ks over the years, but having funds that are mildly aggressive and losing over $213,000 between us in a little over two months is not a “correction.” It’s corruption. Call it what it is.
No re-election
Liz Cheney will not be re-elected in Wyoming. Even with the deep respect people in Wyoming have for her father, she could not get elected dog catcher there now. But she won’t be unemployed, she will land a job with the left-wing media and if Trump runs again, she will be courted by the Dems as one of their anti-Trump operatives during the election.
Higher taxes
The state government is already getting revenue from the sales tax on today’s high prices. Now they want to raise the sales tax to 8.5%. A lower tax on groceries would not be worth this higher tax on every other thing we have to buy. Shame on those who claim to speak for us and only want to rip us off.
One question
If you have loaded guns in your house that you have never used in 30 years, why do you have them?
Just the facts
Anyone ever notice how the left leaning news media always seems to be in cahoots to drive the news narrative of the day? And then they lead the uninformed or misguided citizenry to their conclusion. Just give us the news. Period. If we want an interpretation, we know where to turn if we have to.
Health insurance
I have talked to three senior citizens who have serious life-threatening diseases. All three are smart and engaged with no physical impediments. All three were eventually cut off by Medicare because their treatment was too expensive. All three were told to pay anywhere from $7,500 to $10,000 out-of-pocket monthly in order to keep receiving their medicines, which are working wonders for all three. I have two questions. Why are medicines this expensive here in the U.S. as compared to the rest of the world? And why do Republicans actually think we have the best health care system in the world when only rich people can pay for it?
This column
Anyone had the same experience as me? Sound Off prints any and all unsubstantiated, undocumented, ill informed propaganda that is sent to them, but refuses to print plain, documented and researchable facts?
