Just facts

Our state legislators are trying to pass a bill that bans teaching critical race theory in Mississippi schools. Critical race theory means teaching the facts about history as they really happened. It means the facts are taught, good and bad. It means no facts are changed or left out. Just facts. Nothing else. Would a supporter of banning critical race theory explain to me why not teaching facts of history is a good thing.

Fixing problems

Schools are facing teaching shortages all around. Many retired teachers may be willing to take on part time or substitute roles but are prohibited from working directly for the schools and receive retirement pensions. Working for a temp agency and filing this role pays $68 a day. This provides no incentive for a retired person to step in and fill these needs. Maybe the state should take a look at an exemption allowing retired teachers to step into part time roles and be paid at a rate to attract these seasoned teachers. Fixing problems sometimes requires doing things differently.

Not helpful

This is to “move along.” Who wants police and elected officials to remove the homeless and panhandlers? Where do you suggest that they be moved to? I understand. They bother you and you want them out of sight. Do you think they want to be homeless and hungry? Moving them elsewhere doesn’t solve the problem. Please have some compassion and help come up with solutions. Kicking those that are already down isn’t useful.

Scam alert

Guess it’s that time of the year for the “support your local police” fundraiser scam. Just got my first call. It’s bad enough that they, the police, have their hands tied by the leftist loonies. Now the scammers are piling on more manure on their reputation.

On purpose?

The anti-vaxx Facebook group did not mysteriously disappear. It was erased by the thought police. You can bet there is a list of every person in that group in some government officials files just waiting to be weaponized against all you people who dared to question this administration.

Promises kept?

Really? Biden made many a speech as a presidential candidate and the No. 1 promise I will always remember is that he had a plan to immediately do away with the COVID-19 pandemic in our country. He ain’t come close. And if you made any sense out of his recent press conference please explain it to the rest of the country.

Different views

Two people standing on opposite corners witness a traffic accident. They both provide a truthful, yet different, account of the event they witnessed. A traffic camera recorded the accident and provided a factual account of the accident. A truth may be perceptually dependent; a fact is independently verifiable. “Truth” arguments are very difficult to resolve; so perhaps try to determine the facts before a discussion.

Coming for you

The climate activists are coming for your vehicles. They are trying to make car ownership out of reach for the common man by making them too expensive to own. The peasants will be relegated to public transportation while the elites ride around in Teslas because they know electric vehicle ownership is not sustainable if everybody has one.

Welcome home

Welcome to Mississippi, where Republicans hold every state office as well as a super majority in both chambers of the Legislature, yet everything is still somehow the Democrats’ fault.
