Mississippi history
In January of 1908, Mississippi politicians made it the first state to enact prohibition in the U.S. Ironically, at the time, Mississippi also had the largest number of illegal stills producing moonshine in the country. Bless their hearts. It seems our state leaders sill cant see past their nose.
Reeves, COVID & women’s rights
Instead of Gov. Tate Reeves interfering in the doctor-patient relationship when it comes to medical marijuana or women’s reproductive rights, perhaps the governor should do more to protect the people of Mississippi from COVID-19. We will remember those that died come election time.
No to medical marijuana
As a long practicing emergency physician, I can safely say that there is little to no value to view marijuana as a medicine. It is repugnant to the medical profession to label it as such. There may be some small medical value to certain components of marijuana that are being studied and can be further developed and prescribed. We should call it what it is: another intoxicant that is widely used, fairly benign in small occasional uses, but not for use on a daily basis, and certainly not in the amount of any individual consuming three pounds in a year.
Hancock COVID deaths
Three of the four deaths reported in Mississippi yesterday were in long-term care facilities in Hancock County. Come one, anti-vaxxers. Get with the program. Those poor folks are trapped in there. Hoping for immunity by getting the disease and recovering is not a good choice either. You run the risk of long COVID or even death.
An IQ test
The coronavirus has evolved into an IQ test.
