Sound Off for Dec. 30

Super spreader events

It is just unbelievable that across this Coast there are a number of plans announced for large New Year’s Eve gatherings, in spite of alarming increases in COVID cases. We will never get past COVID until this craziness stops. People including children are dying. Does it have to hit home before you pay attention?

Is vaccine mandate unconstitutional?

Got a text from Cong. Steven Palazzo. He was running a survey on President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate. He said the mandate was “unconstitutional.” Help me out here. Exactly where in the constitution does it say that the president cannot take actions in the interest of public health?

In response to ‘Guns kill’

In response to the “Guns Kill” Sound Off, saying guns kill is equal to saying cars kill in wrecks. My father was shot to death and I don’t blame the gun. The blame is with the person. If civilians are not allowed to own guns, the only people who will still have them is the criminals.

CARES money

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves gives law enforcement officers $1,000 in federal CARES Act money but leaves out the nurses and other first responders that have put their lives on the line as well. Thank you Sun Herald for running the story of the nurse at Singing River that lost her baby to COVID-19.
