Sound Off for Dec. 23, 2021

Locked doors?

Why has Belk at Edgewater Mall been keeping their south doors locked, preventing pedestrians from walking through there? This prevents mall walkers from getting their exercise. People have forever used the mall as a safe place to get their exercise and Belk has the audacity to lock these doors. Why are they doing this? This is unfair to the elderly who need a safe place to walk.

Global warming

We should be glad that we have global warming. Just think how cold it would be if we didn’t have it.

Just do it

Biden is providing free testing. Take it before you gather with your loved ones. That’s if you care.

Tiger’s son

How do you local golfers feel watching Tiger’s son make shots you can only dream about?

Against checkpoints

No disrespect to our brave law enforcement officers, but police holiday checkpoints remind me of those WWII Nazi movies where citizens always had to show “their papers.” And before too long showing your vaccination papers may also become the law of the land. I see it all as an infringement of our freedom. Not good.

One question

Where was all the Narcan during the crack epidemic? Glad for it, but just saying.

For the record

The “high prices” Sound Off was so wrong it was almost funny, except for the political slant. This inflation is not big business. All businesses have had drastic increases in costs. Fewer people working, some due to government policies, caused increased wages, plus bonuses just to hire a minimum workforce, distribution and transportation problems. Also the big increase in gas prices has an influence on every aspect of things you buy.

The creator?

The Biden administration should just call China and ask them what to expect from the new Omicron variant. They are the origin and the creator, after all.

Freedom issues

You’ve seen those movies where everyone has to be scanned before entering a city? Well, if you are worried about mandates now, just wait. The way this virus is spreading your freedom won’t be an issue.

Love trumps all

What’s bigger than COVID? Family at Christmas, love ones who waited an entire year, maybe two, to see parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren. Love and hope trumps all. Always will.
