Sound Off for Dec. 13

Paying college athletes

Many comments are made about college players being paid by companies “using them” to increase company profits. I have never heard any comments about the amount of savings to the parents by not having to pay for four years of college. Those savings are a form of payment to the family. How about instead of the companies paying the college players, they reimburse the college all of the expenses associated with that player getting an education?

Palazzo and party loyalty

Cong. Steven Palazzo was elected to represent the interest of all the citizens in his district. Party loyalty should not be his only priority.

Vaccine rates

The state with the highest vaccination rate is experiencing its biggest outbreak of COVID and they still are blaming the unvaccinated.

Jackson County superintendent

The article about the Jackson County superintendent was honest and factual. The media only reported that he wasn’t properly vetted, cited the controversies that caused him to be fired from a previous job, and exposed the school board’s attempt to cover it up.

No houses on the beach

I despise the idea of housing development and more business on the south side of U.S. 90 in Biloxi. Our open view of the islands, the water and the beach is our most precious possession — for tourists as well as locals.
