What about the father?
If the government is going to force a woman to have a baby she does not want, and perhaps cannot afford, what about the man who got her pregnant? The government should force him to bear an equally onerous burden. And male judges and officials should not be allowed to make his burden less serious.
Remembering Pearl Harbor
As I was watching the ceremony commemorating horrible attack on Pearl Harbor that propelled us into World War II, we were reminded that only a handful of those WWII veterans are still with us. My brother was one of them. That generation is referred to as the greatest generation. So many of our young went off to that war, many did not return. The whole country came together to do their part and support the war effort. I often wonder if today’s generation, if faced with a similar situation, would be able to match the sacrifice and effort of our greatest generation. I pray that we would.
COVID in MS
Mississippi’s new COVID seven-day case average is creeping up to just under 500 per day, just a bit over double what it was on the Nov. 29. Ninety percent of those in the ICU are unvaccinated. Get your vaccine shot!
Railroad crossing woes
When is the U.S. 49 and Creosote Road railroad crossing going to get fixed? It’s tearing up my truck! Who do I send a bill to?
Is amateur college sports going away?
Amateur college sports as we knew it is a thing of the past. Star players will make a ton of money from sponsors. Players can enter the transfer portal to move to another school, maybe for greener pastures. It’s all good, right? Most that will get paid were future pro-millionaires anyway. The bigger schools will benefit. A young team that was building to win a championship in a few years can be set back and the rest of the team that was busting their tails to get there will suffer.
Where are the fire ants?
So, it appears that the birds have left South Mississippi. Well, I would like to know what happened to all of the fire ants. I live on five acres of land and in years past I could walk my property and count at least ten fire ant hills. I searched it all day yesterday and couldn’t find the first ant hill. The sides of the interstate were littered with ant hills for at least the last ten years. However, you don’t see any today. Maybe they hitched a ride south with the birds?
