Sound Off for Dec. 2
Where are the sidewalks?
The streets surrounding Gulfport High has no sidewalks. Kids walking to and from the school have to walk in the streets.
Tate Reeves on NBC
Gov. Tate Reeves should not go on news shows that’s viewed outside of conservative news outlets and pundits!=. The world already thinks we are backward, uneducated thinkers. We don’t need him to prove it.
Fix what’s broken
It is time for economic development in our cities to focus on the residents. Existing roads need maintenance. Sidewalks, piers and harbors need to be repaired or torn down. The cities needs to condemn properties that have fallen in disrepair for over 10 years and clear them. Mayors scramble to get infrastructure money to do new things. Let’s take care of the old things that too long have been ignored.
The death penalty
If Gov. Tate Reeves is serious about the right to life, perhaps he should consider what religious leaders have to say about the death penalty:
“Even if the death penalty were always imposed without error, should we support its use? We teach that killing is wrong by responding with mercy and justice, not more killing. We don’t want a government that kills when society can be protected fully by the bloodless means of life imprisonment. By fostering a spirit of vengeance, which should have no role in the administration of justice, the death penalty contributes to the increasing disrespect for human life in our culture.”
Birds in the Pass
Birds are back to my feeder in Pass Christian. The “something unnatural” must have been a plenty of fall berries on trees and shrubs.
Abortion law
The U.S. Supreme Court Will take up Roe v. Wade today because of Mississippi Republicans’ anti-abortion law. For those who believe that women should be subservient to men and should not have control or make decisions about their own bodies, consider this from Galatians 3:28: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male or female, for all are one in Christ Jesus.”
Good for Reeves
On the front page of the Sun Herald, the Mississippi governor said he opposes abortion. Good for him.
