Where’s the money?
Allow casinos and the taxes will support Mississippi. Allow lottery and it will support Mississippi. Allow toll bridge ... and it will pay for itself? I thought taxes from casinos and the lottery was going to pay for bridges and pay raises for teachers. Biloxi alone has seven casinos and generates enough tax money to pay for a bridge. Where’s the money going?
The Congressman
I was proud to receive a mailer from our U.S. representative, Steven Palazzo. He fights for South Mississippi and has been instrumental in our area keeping Keesler, the Seabee base and Ingalls shipyard. He has my vote for as long as he wants to run.
Missing the birds
Birds and squirrels are also scarce in East Gulfport. Sure do miss those birds, but I have to say do not miss the squirrels much.
Helpful tip
Rather than putting another intrusive app on your phone, just take a picture of your IDs: COVID card, driver’s license, auto registration, proof of insurance, etc. I keep these pictures on my phone and can display them upon request.
Not truthful
I find it hilarious that the author of “More Biden” complains about the president going on television and lying. The fact checkers rarely, if ever, find President Biden lying. I think he is confusing Biden with the former liar-in-chief.
Remembering Trump
When President Trump was in office, the border was much more secure, gas prices were low, we were energy independent, a vaccine was developed for the virus, there was low unemployment and reporters could ask questions all the time. A person wrote in Sound Off that Biden inherited a mess. Biden created a border disaster, massively increased the price of energy, failed in the Afghanistan pull out, has massive inflation on his hands, has a supply chain disaster, has not improved the virus situation, and has failed everything he has touched. Biden has created, not inherited, the disasters that are occurring. Our breakfast group has not had such a great laugh in a long time. Thank you.
Oil reserves
Republicans are slamming President Biden for taping the nation’s oil reserves with the goal of lowering gasoline prices and Biden has the GOP to thank for helping him to do it. Legislation enacted under the Republican-controlled House during the Trump administration ordered the government to sell more than 100 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserves by 2027 to raise money for the Treasury. Biden’s order will not solve the problem of high gas prices overnight but it is already starting to have a calming effect at the pump and it will make a difference.
Think about it
Someone asked if anyone is making company owners and stockholders get COVID vaccinations. It really doesn’t matter because people who are more educated know that vaccines are the only way to stop a worldwide pandemic. Trump and all of the hosts on Conservative talk shows are all vaccinated because they want the pandemic to end, and they don’t want to die.The other issue is that anti-vaxxers give their babies all kinds of shots containing the same toxins that are in the COVID vaccinations. Think about this.
Gas prices
I always wonder who writes some of these posts about gas prices. I don’t know where y’all are getting your gas. I came past three or four stations yesterday. One was $3.89, another $3.78, another $3.30 something. There is no reason to buy the more expensive gas. Read your instruction manual. Under President Bush it was over $4 everywhere. I wish we didn’t have such a right-wing paper. Biden is such a great president and understands how everything works.
