A question
Someone explain, please. If the U.S. economy is so bad and if inflation is causing working people so much hardship, how in the heck are casinos (of all businesses) reporting record monthly profits?
What happened?
I am perplexed and disturbed about the sudden disappearance of squirrels and birds from around our home, which is near the intersections of Longo, Henderson and Nicholson in Waveland. We’re surrounded by many empty lots filled with trees and undergrowth, which have always been home for many birds and scores of squirrels. Within the last two weeks, all the squirrels and most of the birds are gone – cardinals, blue jays, wrens, woodpeckers, tufted titmice and blackbirds. No birds at any of my four feeders. Are other area residents noticing this worrisome phenomenon?
Income tax
I really don’t think it would be wise to do away with Mississippi state income tax when it generates over $2 billion of income for Mississippi. Mississippi will not see enough of economic growth, employment and population growth to make up the difference. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Toll road
The new proposal for a “super highway bridge” if accepted will not be good for Biloxi residents. It would be good for the financiers. Who is to say the tolls would not increase?
How it began
The president is talking about the root cause for inflation and the vice president is looking for root causes for illegal migration. Look no further. The administration is the root cause. On Day 1, Biden started the increase of gas prices, which now is about a 50% increase. Increased government spending by the administration, disruption of supply and increased demand has jump started the increased cost of everything.
Smell the fumes
Here is my response to the Sound Off headlined “Stop with gas price argument.” Maybe in your fantasy universe the president can’t control gas prices. In our universe of reality, the president controls the strategic petroleum reserve, pipeline construction approvals, oil exploration permissions and negotiations with other oil producing countries. You may ignore these and other facts, but it’s time to wake up and smell the fumes.
A scam
Just got an email thanking me for my order of Windows Defender, now known as Microsoft Defender. I called the number to cancel the order when I noticed the email came from a gmail account rather than Microsoft. I hung up. This is a scam. Microsoft Defender is included in Windows 10 for free. Don’t respond to such emails.
Health data
It mystifies me that with all the health-related data our Smart devices record, I have yet to be asked by any physician for a copy. I’ve even offered it, with no takers. In my case, I am older and with considerable health problems. I know the data could be critical to early detection of potential life threatening situations. So why is that data ignored?
Private attorneys
In the last election, Attorney General Lynn Fitch criticized her opponent, Jim Hood, for hiring private attorneys to handle state litigation. So, did she stop doing it after she took office? Check the record.
