Sound off for Nov. 21
Dredge the port
Legislators should consider dredging the channel into Gulfport harbor deeper to attract more shipping to unload in Gulfport. We currently have a nationwide product distribution issue due to ships not being able to unload at other ports. Imagine the revenues it could bring to Mississippi, while the port now seemingly sits idle.
Get the vaccine
A Sound Offer suggests you have a 99.67% chance of surviving a COVID-19 infection. However, consider the story I heard Tuesday from a nurse who survived, only to have lung scarring, brain fog and generalized weakness. She was infected prior to vaccine availability, but the vaccine is available to nearly everyone now and can prevent the vast majority of such sequela.
Poor roads
I recently purchased a new car with lots of safety features including a driver-assist information system. I’ve driven in most cities in the three Coast counties. Only when driving in Gulfport, to my surprise, my car informed me, “function not available due to poor roads.” Interesting. Can’t make this stuff up.
Bring back Black Friday
Why has every store in the world especially, Walmart, exploited Black Friday ? This holiday traditionally is celebrated the day after Thanksgiving . But the last six weeks they have all been touting Black Friday sales. Is there nothing sacred anymore? This is so sad to me it takes the meaning out of the day.
Abortion & the death penalty
The difference between abortion and the death penalty you kill an innocent life with abortion and you kill someone who killed an innocent life with the death penalty.
No to the toll
As a Sunkist resident, I cross the Popp’s Ferry bridge up to four times a day. Build a toll bridge and I will be rerouting to Interstate 10 or Cowan-Lorraine Road. Locals rerouting to avoid the toll will just overburden the already overburdened I-10 and Lorraine Road during peak travel periods.
Stop executions
The barbaric practice of executions by our judicial system is beyond disbelief and should be abolished. No matter how one might look at the practice of execution, it is intentionally killing a person which is murder. What does that say about our judicial system?
