Sound Off for Nov. 17
Critical Race Theory
Critical Race Theory is not being, nor planned to be, taught to our youth in schools. It is being taught in some universities, primarily to law school students. This is just fictitious propaganda being used as a scare tactic by the far right. You’d think a governor would be smart enough to research information before spreading false information and wasting taxpayer dollars on a nonissue, but not here in Mississippi.
Think about the children
Regardless of your political affiliation, anyone who flies a flag with curse words is promoting hate, and should be an embarrassment to all Mississippians. It’s your right to publicly display your political flag, but children can also read. Think about it.
Party over politics
Our representatives from Mississippi all voted against the infrastructure bill, but now they are eager to use the money. There is no shame to their game.
COVID religious exemption
I’m hearing of so many people claiming religious exemption in our nation and right here in Mississippi. I wonder how many of them actually go to church? If that many claims exemption, then our churches should be full. Or are they scared of giving us the virus or us giving it to them? Remember God gave the scientist the knowledge to make the vaccine for us to use for His (God’s) people.
How far will Reeves go?
Tate’s big budget takes aim at eliminating state income tax and fighting Critical Race Theory. Is teaching the fact that Mississippi left the Union to preserve slavery CRT? How about Jim Crow laws that kept Black citizens from voting? Is that CRT? When the truth cannot be uttered, only liars will rule.
Inflation
Well, Democrats, how do you like the higher cost of everything? Former President Donald Trump may not have said the right things all the time, but I sure enjoyed paying $2 per gallon for gas for four years.
Get the vaccine
To the vaccine hesitant Sound Off writer: You told us you have a 99.6 % chance of surviving if you get COVID, so that’s a one in 250 chance of dying. The vaccine carries a risk of one in 250,000 chance of dying. COVID will eventually find you as it seems to be slowly working it’s way through just about everyone on the planet. The benefit of the vaccine far exceeds the risk of not getting it.
