Sound Off for Nov. 14
What took so long?
Mississippi is releasing millions from the 2012 BP money to restore Coastal cities. Why so long? Many affected have lost businesses, jobs and food sources. Most of this money will to fat cat businesses and the interest made pocketed by our legislators.
Solution for used clothing
When cleaning out estates, clothing disposal can be hard to do. Please call local nursing homes and see if they can use any clothes. A lot of times the patients have nothing but what they arrive in and have no money. Unfortunately, families tend to forget about their needs. Lightly used shoes, gowns, robes and casual clothing are needed.
We’re not ready
Solar and wind energy are not yet reliable enough to support widespread power grids. Imagine the extra electricity consumption of all those hybrid cars plugged in every night. Don’t tempt us with dessert. This cake isn’t baked yet.
Change it up
We need a radical new design for transportation. It would change everything.
Pick your poison
I, too, am tired of supporting the crooked oil industry. I’m ready to start supporting the crooked battery industry. If an “old electric car battery” will no longer run a car, how’s it going to “store sun and wind power” energy? Come on, man. Will you believe anything?
Go after the father
We need to pass child care policies so single parents, especially mothers, can go to work. What about going after the father for financial help? Don’t they bare any responsibility with regard to fathering children and taking care of them? I guess the taxpayers should support families that don’t prepare for their future with self control and sensible personal planning.
Medical marijuana option
The Sound Off “Reeves is right” could not be more wrong. I’ve never smoked marijuana and don’t intend to. But in the last years of his life, my father suffered terribly from peripheral neuropathy. Nothing helped. All I could do was watch and try to make him more comfortable. He should have had the option of trying medical marijuana.
Missing a great Mexican restaurant
Perhaps those three sharks hanging out together in the Gulf are looking for their favorite restaurant that used to be in Gulport — Los Tres Amigos.
