Golf course closure
The Gulf Coast has been really profitable to the Arbor Group. They have made so much money here they were able to buy one of the oldest golf courses in the US and turn it into another housing development. Good for them. Thanks to all involved with the sale to make it happen. Something like this would have never happened downtown around their commercial holdings. Sad day for local history.
Putting the blame on Biden
What most don’t understand or refuse to acknowledge is that shipping of goods problem and rising prices would have been the same under Trump. These problems were already manifesting well before President Joe Biden took office. This is just plain corporate greed but yet people put all the blame on Biden because he is the president.
Infrastructure bill not a win-win
The writer of “Infrastructure Bill is a Win-Win” could not be further off base. Let’s see how this works. You are going to print money you do not have and do a tax increase. Then you are going to launder it through the government bureaucracy and give it to campaign donors to create temporary jobs so they rake in the bucks. What could go wrong? Inflation, my friends. The price increases that you see at the pump and at the store will get much worse.
It’s too early for Christmas movies
Good grief! It’s only October and TV is already showing Christmas movies. We old folks with no close family don’t need this reminder of what we don’t have.
Treat vaccine skeptics like smokers
People protesting a vaccine as a personal freedom need to join smokers and stay outdoors. Much like smokers, your freedom to be unhealthy doesn’t override your co-workers right for a safe workplace. If the disease wasn’t airborne, you might have an argument. So if you can’t do your job from home or outdoors, you really only have a choice to lose your job, or get a COVID test daily. That’s not an infringement on your rights — it’s protecting the public health.
Ida and Zeta damages
Gov. Tate Reeves says money is now available for damages from Hurricane Ida. Many of the damages were left over from Hurricane Zeta. Tarps were still on houses prior to Hurricane Ida and I’m sure this caused even more damages to the roof structures when Ida hit.
Important climate change story
The excellent and important article on Mississippi’s coastal marshes by Anita Lee is why I continue to subscribe to the Sun Herald. I hope those in power read it, and take action to address the problem that could ultimately affect our way of life.
Wasted resources
Earlier this year, a crew spent several weeks building three wheelchair-accessible ramps from the parking area to the beach boardwalk near Centennial Plaza. A couple of months later, the signs and parking space markings were added. The ramps immediately filled with sand and were never cleared, making them inaccessible. Seems like we wasted resources.
Comparing COVID to flu
COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus and is more likely to kill you or leave you with lung damage. Please stop comparing it to the flu.
