Sound Off for Sept. 28, 2021
Demand better
I regularly submit Sound Offs. Some point out what’s wrong with our state. I was born and raised here, and I’m still here. I have a duty to demand better for and from my state. So how about you get your head out of the sand and move elsewhere?
Quitting
The CEO of a coast hospital says he is opposed to a vaccine mandate because it would cause the loss of nurses who are committed to “saving as many lives as possible.” If those nurses are sincere about achieving that goal they will get the COVID shot. Lives will not be saved by quitting.
Patient rights
The Singing River SEO said some of their nurses are not vaccinated, and many people say it is infringing on their “rights,” well it is my right to say to a nurse if you are not vaccinated “please leave my room.” I do not want a nurse who is not concerned about my well-being.
New Gov
Thank you Lt. Governor Hosemann for being a voice of reason and common sense. I’m afraid it will fall on deaf ears because of the misinformation being put out by Reeves and other public voices like his. I hope I am wrong. Please run for Governor when his term is up.
Short sighted
The left-wing group “Mississippi Today” is clear in its hatchet job on Gov. Reeves. They should consider that the governor may have been reluctant to blame the Blacks and non-college educated whites for the poor vaccination rates (a situation they point out in their own article).
Too far
Sunday’s Opinion page included a piece penned by five Democratic representatives, proposing Congress be allowed to control prices of pharmaceuticals from private companies. Give them this, and where does it end? Pretty soon we’re China.
