Sound Off for Sept. 14, 2021
A better place
Thank you to all the work crews who have been doing such hard work cleaning up after this latest storm. From the garbage men to MDOT to beach maintenance to public works, you all do a great job . You make our Coast community a better place to live.
Three roles
Gov. Reeves’ COVID lawsuit is turning heads. Hollywood producers are remaking the “Wizard of Oz” and believe he could handle all three roles — no brain, no heart and no courage — all by himself.
His words
What is truly terrifying for the future health prospects of Mississippians (particularly children), is not COVID-19 vaccine mandates, but our governor’s calculated political decision in stating that (in his words) Mississippians “being forced to inject themselves… is terrifying.”
Successful?
I am sure the Mississippi Aquarium is a nice facility. But I am not sure I understand its “successful” first year report card. To simply report $10M in revenue on a $100M facility, I guess is acceptable. But was it profitable?
Discharged
I just read about the cardiac patient from Alabama who was turned away from 43 hospitals due to the high number COVID patients. If a person suffering from a life-threatening condition is brought to a hospital with no room, an unvaccinated patient should be immediately discharged.
Need help
I had water come in my laundry room when it rains a lot especially with tropical systems, and I don’t know who to call to get that fixed. I called a foundation company but they only seal the inside I need a company. Who will seal the outside?
Take turns
Every Sunday, the sheriff’s department directs traffic for folks leaving First Baptist Gulfport. I have no problem with that. What I do take issue with is how they stop the traffic north and south on Highway 605 and let the parking lot empty. Shouldn’t they take turns?
