Raggedy
Someone should review the grass-cutting contract Bay St. Louis has with a contractor to cut grass on right of ways. More than half of these areas are cut by homeowners nearby. The annual contract approaches $400,000. During the height of tourist season, we are approaching four months without a cut.
Correlation
Mississippi is last, or one of the last, in education, and the last in COVID-19 vaccinations. Is it me or do those factors seem to correlate? We are our own worst enemy. Leadership team, let’s push the vaccine. Maybe it will help to know that Trump was vaccinated so you can be too.
Ad valorem
The Biloxi school district does not need to request additional ad valorem taxes. What they need to do is to cutback on the excessive administrative positions. If this increased tax is allowed, the city might want to consider using some of the revenue they receive from eight casinos to offset it.
Think of the children
Everyone needs to take notice with this aggressive Delta variant. With children being in the high risk group for getting this variant, adults who are refusing to vaccinate need to stop and think about the children. We need to do everything possible to protect them.
What can we do?
Don’t watch the news, I mean their propaganda. Use as little of government as possible. Concentrate on your family, community. Fix the pier, pick up the litter, delete social media before it gets you. Let’s start talking and helping each other. Don’t let them separate us.
Respect
It’s not the police who need to be retrained, it’s the public. Our society has become vulgar and uncivil with no personal responsibility. If you want to protect your husband, wife, kids or others, teach them to respect others. They have to earn it, and not with the end of a gun barrel!
Learn to work
On a recent Saturday, I saw some youth standing at an intersection in Pass Christian with cans in hand simply asking for money so their group could attend some camp. In Long Beach, I saw another group of kids offering a car wash where you donate what you think it is worth. Make an effort.
