Not a truck stop

Most Buc-ee’s do not allow 18 wheelers to fuel up at their pumps. It is mainly for tourists to take a break, eat and gas up. If I can that’s exactly where I will stop. Cleanest restrooms anywhere.

Bad Buc-ees

Someone should go to Efland, N.C., and ask their Board of Commissioners how that Buc-ee’s plan worked for them. Last February, the citizens stood up, the politicians heard complaints, and Buc-ees was told to take a hike. This is what economic development has become. Truck stops and more $8 per hour jobs

Great employer

To “Local use,” obviously you have never been to one. We discovered Buc-ees going back and forth to MD Anderson in Houston. It was a great place to stop with multiple gas tanks, huge, clean bathrooms, great food and shopping. Buc-ees is a great employer and will provide well-paying jobs for locals.

Future dream

Clear the land for a row of gas pumps. Eat beaver bites instead of Gulf seafood. Raise a family on another minimum wage job. That’s Harrison County officials’ plan for the future. Sell that dream to graduates of West Harrison High School at I-10 Love’s, next exit’s truck stop.

Wasting the whine

“Local Use” may have never been inside an 80,000-square-foot Buc-ee’s, but it’s very likely locals will patronize it. The Alabama location is a tourist destination in itself. It’s short-sighted to complain about progress that will create 200 local jobs, $50 million in construction and tax revenue.

In the news

Wow, Biloxi made national news Sunday on NBC’s “Meet The Press.” Biloxi and Mississippi were mentioned for having one of the lowest COVID vaccination rates in the nation. C’mon Biloxi, we can do better.
