Sound Off for Sept. 26, 2020
No demo
Lane Kiffin has announced that a “social demonstration” will be held at the Ole Miss and Florida football game Saturday. As a lifelong fan of Ole Miss, I do not want to see “social demonstrations” at this or any other Ole Miss sporting event. It may be time for Lane Kiffin and Athletic Director Keith Carter to be fired! If it means killing the Ole Miss football program, so be it.
Clean up
So glad that Cruisin’ is coming soon! It is the only time that Main Street and Hwy. 90 get spruced up in the Bay. It was starting to look really rough!
Still a D-
I got to say even a D- is too high. For the ones out there that are not wearing masks and not social distancing, could be because of the example the president is setting for them. He is still running large rallies breaking rules on the number of people gathering. He failed to tell us the severity of the virus from back in February and admitted it in an interview. He had the opportunity to do this right but chose not to for political gain. In the end, we the people lose.
Hypocrisy
For months I’ve being told by the powers that be in Biloxi that craft vendors were not allowed at the Farmer’s/Community Market right now. Imagine my surprise when I attend the Market Festival today and see a craft vendor set up and selling. Not a regular market vendor, but someone they allowed to just come in and set up during the festival. Hypocrisy thy name is Biloxi.
Marijuana
The higher ups want to keep Mississippi backward. Many voters are burning with the desire for marijuana to be legalized. It would close the illegal joints where it is now available. On Nov. 3, voters will drift to the polls and vote their conscience. While we realize that this vote is only for “medical marijuana,” if they can grow it at Ole Miss, why can’t everyone else grow it?
Road paving
I guess you have to be a former mayor of Gulfport to have the road in front of your home paved all nice and pretty when there are much worse roads all over the city that have needed attention for years.
