Sound Off for Sept. 25, 2020
Medical advice
Lord help us if people actually take any medical advice from any president or politician.
Monopolizing time
To “Biloxi,” your fellow-citizens do not pay taxes for the salaries of our mayors and representatives just so you can hogtie their time with “how to run their office and mend the world.” They each have competent staff. Tell the secretary the reason for your call. She or he will get back to you. If the mayors or representatives need or want to chat with you, that’s fine with me. But don’t monopolize their tax-paid salaries and time with your “entitled belief” that you are the only voter of thousands of voters with that “phone-time and effort-wasting” “right.”
Taco Sombrero
Congratulations to Taco Sombrero for their successful run. Their first real location was 317 Pass Road Gulfport in a little offset square building, near Jody Nelson Drive. I know this because I used to work at the Honda shop that was right across the street from it back in the early ’70s.
A Blues saying
There are a lot of people stuck on stupid!
Boats and marine damage
This is in response to a Sound Off a few days ago about the marine and boat damage in the Orange Beach area from Hurricane Sally. Many of the boats that you have seen damaged ended up like that for a couple of reasons. First many of the owners live in Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, north Alabama, etc. They keep their boats where they have second homes or condos. At first, Sally was to make landfall in New Orleans, and it was gradually moved to east. Second, the whole areas is actually one big island, and you have to go over the Inter-coastal Waterway to gain access. When the wind reaches 40 mph these bridges are closed. There was not enough time to drive down to the Coast to secure these boats for a storm.
Give him an A
In response to “Give him a D-,” Trump has done a far better job than you and I could do. The next time you go out in public, look around at what he’s working with, people who can’t do something as simple as wearing a mask and social distancing.
