Sound Off for Sept. 7, 2020
Too late
A hurried response to vaccines is what should have been done in March for testing kits and mask mandates. Medical care in this country is too focused on treatment for illnesses rather than prevention or precautions. But their business model depends on us being sick.
Say so
Democrats keep saying Trump blew the handling of the virus. Only problem with that is nowhere have they said what they would have done differently. And if they knew of a quicker response why didn’t they say so then instead of waiting for more people to get sick and possibly die?
Just a thought
The police are who they are. It is really a crappy job on some days, and the pay isn’t too good. Some of them are better than others and they are all tarred by the actions of a few miscreants. Of all of those people demonstrating against them, how many are ready to become policemen or policewomen? How may are willing to put their life where their mouth is and pick up the burden policing? Are they perfect, no! But, someone has to do it.
This dog is blue
Former U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Miss., was a victim of the two-party system. The Republican Party vilified him because he was a Democrat. The Democrat Party didn’t have his back because he often voted with the Republicans. It’s enough to make an old dog blue.
Lights out
Granted, those driving slowly on U.S. 90 in the left lane are aggravating, and those choosing not to use blinkers are a nuisance, but those who do not turn their lights on when it is dark or getting dark are potentially deadly. Drive highway 90 any day during dusk or dawn and count these dangerous drivers. Don’t just watch for lights before entering the highway. One of these drivers nearly killed my wife, his excuse was that he could not find the light switch in a borrowed car.
Wear a dang mask
I agree with the Coast senator: “Wear a dang mask.” I wish congregational leaders would require church members to wear a mask; then I would not have to stay home. Some members flat out refuse and that is certainly not a Christian attitude, nor responsible.
