Sound Off for Aug. 17, 2020
Bosses to blame
I’m a longtime casino employee, and I empathize with the plight of Coast bar employees, but the bar owners did it to themselves when they fully reopened their establishments and packed guests in like sardines with total disregard for CDC guidelines. Please but the blame where it belongs — with your bosses!
Lack of respect
No one wants to make a sacrifice to keep everyone safe. I for one am tired of all of the bickering. Close ALL casinos and bars and make masks mandatory until the end of the year. Hold businesses accountable. No mask, no service. Period!
Wait!
Isn’t it smarter to get it right the first time before putting children and teachers and staff at risk? Have qualified staff to go around to oversee the COVID precautions are met. Otherwise it will be an open, close/suspend situation!
Tremendous progress
Just look at how far we have progressed as a nation in the last six months. Only in America can you loot and burn down whole city blocks without fear of harassment from anyone in authority but walk out to your mail box without wearing a mask and you can be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Just think how much progress we can make in the next six months.
Problem solved
You know, if we, if we would, if we’d just stop, stop naming hurricanes, stop naming them you know, we wouldn’t have anymore, you know, no more hurricanes.
Is MS next?
Other states are expanding Medicaid, hopefully Mississippi will be next! A retired couple can’t afford a supplement to Medicare when they make less than $30,000 a year... right now in Mississippi it’s around $19,600.
Masks not a cure-all
Nurses and doctors are using masks and personal protective equipment and they are still getting COVID. The only safe thing to do is to do a Safer At Home mandate to protect our fellow Mississippians. We shouldn’t have to worry for our lives by having to go to work.
