Sound Off for Aug. 10, 2020
Not fair
In the last month, I have returned to work after working remotely. In that time, we have already experienced 15 people at my work who have either had COVID or been exposed to it. I have been responsible and not gone anywhere. I stay at home. I wear a mask and I purchase things I need online and have them delivered. Now, I am being placed in a position of catching the virus due to others carelessness and negligence. It is not fair to me. Who is going to fight for the little guy like me?
Natatorium
The staff of the Biloxi Natatorium deserve congratulations. They have established a demanding but intelligent process that is strictly enforced and allows people to swim again in spite of COVID-19. Thanks!
No fraud
I just couldn’t let “No Fraud” pass without challenge. The writer stated, “a billion mail-in ballots were examined.” That’s three times the entire U.S. population! The fact is In 2016, 138 million ballots were cast in the election. Of those, 20.9% or 29 million were mail-in. At that rate, 100% of 34 years of mail-in ballots would have had to be examined. Federal law only requires ballots be retained for 22 months. Do you really think these ballots exist? If you’re going to make stuff up, at least make it believable.
Simple statement
Why are retailers taking so long to announce and enforce mandatory face masks? It should be a simple statement “Effective immediately, all employees, customers and vendors are required to wear face masks, covering the nose and mouth, until further notice. The only exception is children under 2 and those with properly documented excuses.”
Distancing classes
After Hurricane Fredrick, if my memory serves me, the schools in Gautier were damaged, so they opened with classes being split half of students in morning and the other half in afternoon. This method should help with social distancing.
Face sheilds
A thought on high school football. Since it’s a contact sport rendering it virtually impossible to practice social distancing, I wonder if anyone has thought of face shields that fit inside the helmets?
