Sound Off for Aug. 5, 2020
Bar rules
I would like to know why casinos can serve alcohol 24-7, but the little man can’t?
Roosters crow
The mayor and aldermen of Ocean Springs are debating the city’s rooster problem while America has the worst pandemic in a century, the Coast is in the bullseye, and the mayor himself has the virus. Y’all please stop laughing at us. It ain’t right to crow over this flap.
Survival
I have yet to see any articles that tell us what the doctors in Mississippi are prescribing to their patients with COVID. Of the numbers of people testing positive, we are not told the age groups. Of the people dying from COVID, we are not told of underlying conditions. The only way to get over this pandemic is for everyone to get it and let nature play its role, survival of the fittest.
Editor’s note: MSDH updates a graph of age groups on its website, https://msdh.ms.gov. The top age group by number of cases is 18-29 with 13,138 cases, and the top group by deaths is 70-79 with 452 deaths.
Something to think on
Teachers in Georgia’s largest school district returned to start in-person planning, and the next day 260 district employees were barred from entering their schools because they tested positive for the virus or had been directly exposed to someone who had.
Lambs to slaughter
How can a child not be allowed in school if he doesn’t have his vaccination, and state is going to force our children back to school in a pandemic?
Can’t be replicated
There is nothing better for young children than a regular school with teachers and other children. They learn and grow in ways virtual can’t replicate. Don’t ever think anything can replace that without leaving many children behind and changing those that no longer have a real person leading them but a vision.
Noncompliance
Went to a restaurant in Biloxi. No soap or paper towels in the bathroom. No physical distancing. Some servers not wearing masks. Unacceptable. Come on Biloxi, let’s do better!
