Sound Off for July 24, 2020

Now and then

Hope we never have to refer to these as, “the good old days.”

Noise pollution

How can the city of Biloxi allow an outdoor concert at the Coliseum in the middle of a pandemic? On top of that, the noise level was horrendous for the neighboring residents! Do something for the residents Mr. Mayor.

The whole story

The front-page story of the city of Ocean Springs severing all ties with Friends of the Mary C. should not cause a rush to judgment. The story was devoid of what factors were involved and what may have occurred for the city to sever the ties. It is rather convincing that six aldermen voted to cut ties, none opposed. Surely they had valid reasons. What happened? We certainly don’t know from this story!

Makes me proud

I think the arrest of the guy from Hammond, La., that murdered Brandon Box in a road-rage incident was the result of some darn good police work! You rock, blue!

Ingalls outbreak

Why is the governor not shutting Ingalls Shipbuilding down due to over 100 COVID-19 cases in a week? It is enabling their employees to spread the virus to other employees and putting all employees, their families and the community at risk! Shut them down now! If this happens at Ingalls, what do you think is going to happen at schools when they reopen?

Mask rule

Visited a chain restaurant in Gulfport today, walked through the door and was greeted by the hostess who was not wearing a mask; myself and my friend were wearing masks. Asked the hostess about her lack of a mask, and her response was they did not have to wear a mask as they were not a retail business. Other staff were wearing mask most below the nose. To those who wore a mask, thank you.

Not an incentive

I got permanently laid off last week. If they get rid of the extra unemployment incentive, then I would like to see President Trump live off of $211 per week and pay his mortgage, expenses, his COBRA health insurance and try to get a job in a job market that is not hiring! It’s impossible!
