Sound Off for July 22, 2020

A difference?

Much is being made of the risk of school children contracting COVID-19, yet daycare facilities have reopened fully and we are not hearing of outbreaks from them. Is there any difference?

Why now?

Why should President Trump agree to accept the results of the upcoming election? There is too much corruption in the making, with some states mass mailing ballots. There will be a lot of dead people voting in November. After all, the Democrats still haven’t admitted defeat in 2016.

Real world

If schools don’t reopen, parents should get vouchers for proven home schooling programs and teachers should get unemployment, same as anyone else. Sorry teachers, that’s how the real adult world works.

Has to end

Sooner or later the extra $600 unemployment benefit has to end and people need to go back to work. Let’s look at the end of July as the restart of the economy, not the end of a windfall.

Mask thoughts

I’m not totally convinced masks do much good, but I wear one. Why? Well, because of the upside downside thing. Upside: No one is screaming at me, I’ve got nice eyes, and maybe they do help. Downside: There really isn’t any downside. Upside to not wearing a mask: I suppose if I like fighting and being an outcast. Downside: They just might help. So I put one on and I’m happy, others are happy and my day goes smooth.

Feeling frustrated

So Jeepin’ the Coast was canceled? Really? Could have fooled me. Have never seen so many in Bay St. Louis. Masks? No way. Went for a short ride on Saturday. Saw a few Mississippi tags but for the most part all out of state — you know the ones with high COVID-19 numbers: Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas. Hancock County needs a mask mandate because the number of out of town people who do not care is almost overrunning the population.

Trust no one

I hope the people of Georgia, Florida, Texas and Missouri realize what kind of people they have elected to run their states. I cannot believe that people actually believe the lies these officials are spewing out. People, wake up, look for yourself. The numbers don’t lie. What is going to happen when the ICU units are full and the medical workers have had enough? Time for the America people to stop listening to the politicians and make up heir own minds.
