Sound Off for July 17, 2020

Broadband funding

Where are our representatives? $16 million for the internet all to the Delta once again.

Truth

Another outstanding article written by Isabelle Taft regarding the Moss Point mayor it’s about time the truth really gets out there in the press, thank you.

Popp’s Ferry bridge

To absolutely no one’s surprise, the Popp’s Ferry Bridge has been hit once again. Not sure why anyone in their right mind would try to maneuver a triple (3 barges put together) tow! Way too long for the tug to turn when going toward the west with the channel making an extremely sharp turn prior to going through the bridge. Since the City of Biloxi owns the bridge, maybe someone with authority could mandate much shorter tows so this would not happen again.

Social distancing

I’d like someone to be able to explain, why in a time that social distancing is so important, Walmart has decided that they have only one entrance and exit working. Yesterday people were being herded like cattle to try to get out of the store after they checked out. One person almost right on top of another with no end in sight. How does that make sense?

Refund?

If schools do not open this fall, all land owners and businesses that pay school taxes should be refunded. Otherwise they are paying for public services not rendered. All teachers not in a classroom this fall should be without pay and put on unemployment like all other non-essential workers.

Still a shortage

It is sickening that over 4 months into the pandemic the U.S still has grave shortages of PPE. Trump has done nothing to correct this and has had the power to do so. He has caused us Americans to bear the consequences of his failures.

Real Americans

“CDC chief says masks could halt outbreak in 4-6 weeks.” People wore masks after Katrina and nobody had to tell them to. Common sense would dictate wear a mask as it is such a simple solution. When did Americans become such crybabies and wussies. Some people wear mask all day long on their jobs and never had a problem. Now is the time to be real Americans and be a true patriot and protect each other.
