Sound Off for July 12, 2020

Pray

Pray for those who have been taught to hate anyone that doesn’t look like them. Pray they can someday realize the lies they were raised on. Three truths that can set you free: First, there is only one race, the human race. Second, there is no such thing as a “white” or “black” man. We are all different shades of brown. Third, your shade of brown does not determine your level of intellect or your worth as a member of society.

Training needed

Regarding the officer-involved shooting in Pascagoula of a suicidal person with a knife, why did the officer have to use deadly force? Why didn’t the officer use a Taser? We see incidents such as this nationwide where officers do not know how to handle a psychiatric emergency and which result in a tragedy.

Boat parade

A pandemic ravaging the nation, a president who downplays the damage, rule of law in the toilet, democracy under attack, refusing to disclose financials, told more than 8,000 fact-checked lies, opens up deepwater oil drilling after Mississippi’s biggest environmental disaster, on and on... let’s have a boat parade.

Joe’s taxes

SCOTUS ruled that President Trump’s tax data cannot be subpoenaed by the House but turned back to a lower court the issue itself. This is more Democrat politics at work. The hypocritical media should demand full release of all Joe Biden’s tax information, including all information related to his son Hunter’s dealings with Burisma in Ukraine.

Mask-wearing in OS

The Ocean Springs mayor, on requiring to wear masks, said “We also need to have personal responsibility.” This in light of news that “silent spreaders” (those with COVID-19 but without symptoms) are out shopping and at social gatherings without masks. There seems to be less there than meets the eye.

Needs bite

Gov. Reeves has mandated masks for some counties. There needs to be fines implemented for businesses that do not adhere to the guidelines. My suggestion is a $100 fine for individuals and $500 fine for businesses for first offense, and if a second offense the business should be shut down for 30 days. Local officials need to do spot checks.
