New excuse

Now that all you progressives have gotten the flag changed, what excuses do you plan to use when all of these new businesses still don’t flock to Mississippi?

Solidarity and peace

I’m a native Mississippian in my 70s and am all in for the flag change for a more progressive state. After that change, I want to see more out-of-state businesses, more high school graduates and better education. I want to see more racial solidarity and peace. If a new flag brings these changes, please do it now.

Change the flag

Yes, let’s change the state flag, make it solid yellow. That way it can represent the cowards in our state government. They took the people’s right to decide away because they are afraid.

Accountability

I was glad to see most Mississippi news agencies had printed a list on how our elected representatives had voted concerning the removal of state flag. This information will come in handy in order to make informed decisions when these elected officials come up for re-election this year, or in the coming years. Mississippians are known for their long memories.

Invisible

A friend of mine that visits Washington, D.C., regularly on business, brought laughter during these trying times. He said Congressman Steve Palazzo is known as Claude Rains around Capitol Hill. One will recall that Mr. Rains played the lead in the 1933 film classic “The Invisible Man.”

Even he says so

On June 26, 44,000 new cases of coronavirus infections were reported in the U.S. in one day. Half of the new cases were under the age of 35 — says Vice President Pence breaking a two months long silence —of the White House coronavirus task force.

Just living life

I saw a man on the local news who said he was “just living his life” by enjoying vacations, partying, socializing in large groups, and so on, never wearing a mask. Since he is apparently the center of his own universe, there must not be anyone he is worried about infecting — not even himself. It is people like this selfish, self-serving pleasure seeker who are causing the rampant spikes in cases and deaths from the virus.
