Sound Off for June 25, 2020
Design makes the difference
I don’t mind if the state flag is changed I just ask that whoever designs our license plates does not create the design.
Blackmail
Universities are being punished because of a state flag. It is a form of blackmail. Why not go after state legislators instead of sports programs at universities? Many of the athletes, that may be affected by these policies are Black.
Get with it, MS
It’s past time for the flag to be changed and the Confederate monuments to be moved to Beauvior. It’s a museum, which is what it should be and where the monuments belong, as a part of history.
Drop him
If the football player chooses to threaten a college that he won’t play if the state keeps its flag, even though school has removed the flag, then drop him from team and pull his scholarship.
Financial damage
Gov. Reeves should step forward now and encourage the legislators to vote for removal of the flag and decide on a new flag later. Just get the flag down before it does more financial damage.
Sociopaths
To those of you who don’t wear masks in public, what are you thinking? When you see the word science, do you think magic? When you see the word doctor, do you think shaman? Do you think you can’t get sick and die? Do you think because you don’t feel sick that you can’t infect other people? Statistics would tell us that you can’t all be sociopaths, but what else can we think?
History in MS
I just retired from a long career of teaching high school in Mississippi, and have found students to be very aware of the greatness of Martin Luther King Jr. as well as what time in history he lived. I have relatives in Florida, though who don’t seem to have much of a history background. Not sure what Midwestern state you are referring to, but I certainly feel your frustration.
Optional
To those who don’t wear face masks, if you ever need surgery, I hope you tell the surgery team that their face masks are optional.
