Sound Off for June 20, 2020
Other options
The Stennis flag does not represent Mississippi. Nothing about it makes you think of Mississippi when you look at it. The first thing I thought was it looks like the Texas flag. If the people vote to change the flag, we can do much better than the Stennis one.
Bye bye
To the person who vowed not to shop in Gulfport, we needed to do a little purging. I heard Ocean Springs is available.
Thank you
Who’s small minded and whining? I can only hope you keep your word by not eating, shopping and visiting us.
Go Gulfport
In response to small-minded’s quip regarding Gulfport taking down the Confederate battle flag, I’m sure you, your business, and your old fashioned attitudes won’t be missed. This is 2020 and it’s high time we got things done.
Magnolia state
Mississippi is the Magnolia State, not Alabama. Alabama is known as “The Yellowhammer State” (the Yellow Shafted Flicker — a relative of the woodpecker — is the state bird), “The Cotton State” or “The Heart of Dixie.” Either the Stennis flag or the Magnolia flag would be good for Mississippi.
Masks
I live and work in Nagasaki City, Japan population 500,000 where 99% of people wear masks. To date no cases and no deaths related to the coronavirus.
Pray
Pray for America. We need fixing.
License renewal
Has anyone else had trouble renewing their driver’s license online? I have tried to renew mine since the announcement was made encouraging us to renew online instead of in person. Each time I get through all the steps, then for the payment step it goes back to homepage and says page can’t be found. I have used my phone, laptop and my desktop computer. I believe something is wrong with the online system. Can anyone help? They do not answer their phones.
Flagpoles
School superintendents, hear this: Take down the emblem of white supremacy from your flagpoles, and give our children a lesson they’ll remember in courage and righteousness.
