Sound Off for June 17, 2020
More respect
Regarding the incident with Connie Moran, really why did the police have to take her to jail? Are the police beginning to lose their compassion toward others? Jail is not always the answer. I remember the days when police actually helped people avoid an arrest and they weren’t so quick to throw the handcuffs on. And people had more respect for police back then because of how they handled situations.
Civic groups?
To the person who wrote about “Civic Groups,” would you enlighten us as to when and where. I’ve never heard of it!
Punishment
I am wondering at what point the people in Ocean Springs are going to stop punishing their former mayor. I wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of that community. Wouldn’t want to live there either.
Moran for mayor
I have long admired Connie Moran but thought she was too Goody Two-Shoes. Now I like her even more. If she gets tired of Ocean Springs harassing her, she should move to Gulfport and run for mayor. I would love for Gulfport to become a liveable, successful city.
Big purchase
For several years, Singing River failed to pay the required contributions to their retirement system. Those retirees lost money and had a lot of unnecessary stress. Partially because of that, Singing River can now buy the Garden Park hospital in Gulfport. Singing River Hospital should be ashamed of the way it has treated its retirees. Before buying anything, they should fully fund the old retirement system.
State flag
The Stennis flag does represent Mississippi, too generic. There are many talented artists in this state, how about we see what they come up with. That is, if the people vote to replace the current flag.
Playing with fire
To call the media fake is playing with fire, and the majority of people realize that the media and the world’s best scientists are being wrongly attacked. The current administration and its “base” have spent the last 3 1/2 years dancing around the truth, inflaming everybody on both sides, and confusing others with disinformation.
