Sound Off for June 13, 2020
Proper procedure?
So if a woman falls, hits her head and becomes disoriented ... why not call an ambulance to take her to the emergency room for an evaluation? Instead the police handcuff and charge her, and then jail her overnight. Isolation - without a medical evaluation first - puts her at risk. This doesn’t reflect well on the police either.
Next up?
Lots of viewers have tuned out the NFL. Will NASCAR be next?
The problem
The problem with erasing the past is that we are doomed to repeat it.
Less is more
Have the city of Biloxi and the state of Mississippi lost their minds? We don’t need another casino. All you need to do is look at Atlantic City, New Jersey. Flooding the oversold market is a recipe for disaster. There are only so many people to support these businesses. What happens to these properties when they start failing?
Too much?
I don’t consider myself racist, but enough is enough. To ban “Gone With The Wind” from the video on demand is too much.
One question
When are the Hancock County libraries going to reopen? We are paying our taxes and many of us would like more library access than just e-books, videos, and on the porch internet access. Jackson-George County, Harrison County, and Long Beach are setting a good example on how to do this.
Power corrupts
Former executive Director of Marine Resources, William Walker, was convicted of fraud in 2014. Others, including his son were also convicted. So now, the state Legislature wants to give unfettered power to the director who will answer only to the governor. Millions of dollars, including BP oil catastrophe funds will be in play. Have we learned nothing?
