Sound Off for June 5, 2020
Priorities
It is interesting how all the comments about Mr. Floyd’s murder starts with a brief sentence condemning it, but the rest of the comments are about property damage, etc. The messaging was signaled and now you have your script.
Law
To all law enforcement: I would like to thank you for doing your job and doing it well. There are whole lot of people that think so also Unfortunately because some cross the line it should not reflect on y’all. There’s usually a bad apple in all baskets. Thank you.
Justice for both sides
To “Both sides,” McKeithen accused murderer is behind bars waiting to stand trial. In the case of George Floyd it took protest to even get an arrest and three officers are still walking the streets. What people are asking for is justice for both sides.
Shared support shattered
It’s a real shame that the black community did not realize that we white folks felt the same outrage after seeing the video of the Floyd killing. Unfortunately, that shared support for efforts to ensure the police never do this again has been greatly shattered by the subsequent arson, looting and destruction of property.
Young drivers
I am alarmed to read that the DMV will be issuing first time drivers licenses without road testing. All that is needed is an affidavit from a parent or guardian that the new driver has 50 hours of supervised driving experience. Are you kidding? How many of these 16 year olds will forge the affidavit and take to the roads with no real experience or drivers education? I am not happy to know they will be sharing our streets and learning to drive with no guidance.
Brees and Brown
For critics of Drew Brees, I am sure you know Jim Brown, the NFL’s all time greatest running back. He has the same views as Brees. Also, he was very critical of Kaepernick from the start. If you anything about social justice leaders, Jim Brown has been a leader in social justice for years, working with young kids in inner cities.
