Both sides?
What happened to George Floyd was horrible. Many white people have joined black people in protests about that. What happened to white Biloxi police officer Robert McKeithen was also horrible. He was randomly murdered by a young black man. It would be very encouraging if people in the black community took advantage of this opportunity to publicly condemn Officer McKeithen’s murder too.
Deja vu
Governor Tate Reeves speech on Monday harkens back to "outside agitators" Chaney, Goodman, Schwerner. Poor choice of words that demonize civil rights martyrs.
Life matters
Human life matters.
Leadership
Mr. President, what we need is leadership not troops. Violence begets violence.
Not legal
Any demonstration that interferes or restricts with the rights and freedoms of others is confrontational, not legal, nor peaceful.
Come together
Now would be an ideal time for all of the coastal cities to take down the state flag. All of the state universities and colleges did so in 2016.
Wear it properly
People, if it’s mandatory or personal preference to wear a face mask, at least wear it properly. It goes over your nose and mouth not just your mouth. The droplets in the air, not just from this virus but also other virus’ can be inhaled through your nose. I’ve seen many people with their mask down around their chins and not even over their mouth. Your choice to wear one but if you do wear it so it protects you and others.
Better business
Do the merchants realize their business would probably increase if their employees would practice safety measures like wearing a mask? I'm 76 years old, my is husband 81, we both have some health issues. We have tried to be so careful to stay safe during the pandemic. I finally decided to venture out and was very disappointed. Three fourths of the customers were not masked, the lady in the deli was wearing hers with her nose sticking out, my checker was wearing hers under her chin around her neck, another checker had no mask. This is unacceptable.
