Sound Off for June 1, 2020
Death prevention
Local death results of the past week show more people in the coastal counties have died from shootings or road rage or bludgeoning than the result of the virus pandemic. It is time for Gov. Reeves to issue an order for all criminals to shelter in Place, avoid the public, and socially distance themselves from their handguns and weapons of choice to reduce these needless deaths. Masks can be optional.
Rocket science
Of course Harrison County had an uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases. I am not a rocket scientist, but I think I know more about basic science than our governor and president. The more you lift restrictions, the more cases you are going to see. It’s pretty simple.
Take two knees
How about one knee on my neck? Is that your right? And should the star spangled banner be played when I stop breathing? If you say it often enough it doesn’t make it true. Kaepernick kneeling had nothing to do with our military or the disrespect of their service. It has to do with the police killing another black man being killed over a non-violent charge and the total disrespect for black lives.
Whiners
For those people who are whining about wearing a mask, get a real cause. How much effort does it take to put it on while in the store and take it off in your car. The workers have to wear them all day!
No smoking
Casinos really blew it when they reopened with smoking permitted. The CDC has been showing an enhanced graphic of the germs that come out of a person’s mouth when they speak. How many germs do you think come out when you exhale smoke? The governor has the power to start the conversation of no smoking in public as well as no masks, no service. Our numbers are on the rise again. Now is the time to act!
Martial law
COVID 19 reemergence or not, the American public will not tolerate another round marital law by our government! It seems to me that the vast majority of dictator-styled governors are Democrats. Free to grant “rights” or to mediate punishment to those who break our laws, but will throw a barber in jail or fine a restaurant owner “for the public good.” Precedence has been set and the misuse of power will happen again.
