Sound Off for May 30, 2020

To wear or not to wear

The disagreement over the need to wear a mask is the result of all the conflicting statements coming from governments at all levels. Health officials as well as politicians are guilty of confusing the public by mixing opinions with facts. We have been told not to wear masks, and then to wear them, and then that they won’t do much good but wear them anyway, almost in the same breath. In the absence of clear guidance, a resurgence of COVID-19 cases will be inevitable.

Rogue cops

The awful, tragic police brutality incident in Minneapolis should be a wake up call to every police department in our country! I read a disturbing investigative report in regards to police departments hiring practices and the routine hiring of “rogue” cops — experienced but “bad” cops from other communities! Their previous behavior is protected by law and the new department is clueless.

Enforcement

The people in the casinos are not social-distancing! General managers, this means you, you are responsible for all of your employees. Make it mandatory for people to wear masks while on property. No shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service.

Right to protest

I believe in the right to protest, but do not believe that exercising that right give you the right to destroy property and kill people. People that do that is just trying to justify criminal behavior. Good reaps good and evil reaps evil.

Looting

Why is looting happening with death? A civilized society will show compassion, love and kindness. Thus forgiveness is given. When will this begin?

Protest anytime

The First Amendment does not say how, when or what song is playing. We, like you can peacefully protest anywhere.

Personal problem

To the person or person’s wanting free money to repair their home. Those of us that worked and applied ourselves to have a nice house to retire in, to leave to our kids, we should get the money before the people who spent theirs as fast as they got it and enjoyed the lesser things in life instead of planning for the future and old age. Your problem is a personal problem and not a taxpayer problem.
