Not gone
To those who believe COVID is ‘gone’ just because things are open, remember it took only one infected person at a funeral right here in Mississippi to spread the disease to 21 others in attendance. 21 people with a potential to land in the hospital on a ventilator. 21 people who could include your brother, sister, mother, father, child, grandchild or even you. Let that sink in while you go about business as usual.
No trust
My governor asked me to trust my fellow Mississippian. My fellow Mississippian has shown me that he is not to be trusted. I see too many people willing to get too close to me without even wearing a mask. I am not ready to trust my fellow Mississippian with my life.
Responsibility for deaths
In order for us to know whether wearing a mask in public protects anyone from COVID-19, there would have to be studies comparing the results of wearing to those of not wearing a mask. Some doctors have even said that a mask is harmful to the person wearing it, as it forces them to breathe the same air over and over. Staying at home is causing harm, including deaths from suicide and from sick people afraid or unable to get medical care. Are the advocates of staying home ready to accept responsibility for these deaths?
Kudos
Kudos to The Ocean Springs Police Department for responding to a lost dog at The Gardens Tuesday night. Very polite and fast and came with the owner. All is well!
8 minutes
For a full 480 seconds, not only did the officer knee Mr. Floyd but he had his full weight on him, ankle sideways and hand in pocket. Leaning into the victim’s neck. Clearly murder!
Police officers
Why would anyone want to become a law enforcement officer under the present circumstances? They don’t have enormous salaries, but expected to be protectors, psychologists and peacemakers. Dealing with unpredictable criminals, domestic disputes and often potentially violent circumstances. Then having your actions totally analyzed after the fact. God bless.
