Sprucing up

Thanks to the responsible Biloxi department for recently sprucing up the Woolmarket welcome sign area and flags! Very much appreciated! Now if the county contractor would please remove the unsightly and unnecessary Shriners Blvd road construction signs, life would be perfect out in Woolmarket!

Unbelievable

I did reach the age of 74 before ever seeing a murder in real time. That is exactly what I witnessed on television with the police officer causing the death of a young man by applying pressure with his knee to the neck of the man who was handcuffed. I am hurt, angry and tearful. I don’t care the circumstances, humanity should kick in at some point. Lord help us all.

Protests are OK

I have a problem with taking a knee at a national event during the national anthem. Part of the flag and national anthem at a major event is to honor all of those that died for that flag. Also the implication that this is a racist nation where police brutality is a daily event everywhere in this country is wrong. Protest a specific case at a specific location and you have my 100% support.

Roads

In Gulfport, you can tell where the classes of society live just by the condition of the roads. Take a look at southwest Gulfport and Bayou View for instance.

BP and stimulus money

Where has all the money gone? There should be a fund or block grant to help senior citizens with low fixed incomes to repair their homes so they can live in decent houses with dignity. However, the state should distribute the money. Every time these so-called nonprofits are given the money, it disappears. When I’ve contacted them in the past all I hear is “we’re out of funds and we will add you to the list.” Well, I am still waiting while my house is in need of many repairs.

Prison warden

As a former south Louisiana lifetime resident, I am familiar with the story of Mr. Burl Cain and Angola State Prison. I’m a little confused with 55 applicants he was the best? You have a somewhat corrupt prison system that has had the attention of the FBI and he is your choice. He resigned in Louisiana and that stopped the investigation. Where there is smoke?
