Sound Off for May 25, 2020
This is life and death
What’s with these people wearing their masks down around their throats? If I come into your business and you are not wearing a mask properly, I am not coming back. You have disrespected me and told me that my life means nothing to you.
1st amendment
Why is I okay to claim your right to protest the lockdowns, but not okay for athletes to take a knee to protest police brutality?
MS luck
With Mississippi’s luck, the murder hornets will be attracted to Magnolia trees.
Cultural change
Gov. Reeves is correct in saying that we need to balance the economy against the health risks. However, he needs a way of enforcing the mitigation efforts — physical distancing, face masks, hand washing, etc. Mississippians are not in the habit of doing this yet. It’s largely business as usual except when in businesses that enforce the rules. Fewer than 10% of folks are wearing masks. We need a cultural change wherein the populace takes responsibility for continuing safe practices to go along with the relaxed economic restrictions and we’re a long way from that now.
Question
For people that spout the rhetoric that the increase in positive coronavirus cases is because of more testing being done, how do you explain the increase in deaths? Testing has nothing to do with deaths.
Hydroxycloroquine
Spending years in the jungle of central America, I too have taken this drug for prevention of malaria. Not sure if the media wants the president dead or sick, but the hate is real!
Dark side
Presidential advisor Dr. Deborah Birx finds herself being drawn to the dark side. She tried to unwind the damage caused by President Trump’s dangerous suggestion that ingesting or injecting topical disinfectants would kill the coronavirus. Entangled in a sinister Svengali’s web, Dr. Birx faces a familiar dilemma: Stay and try to limit Trump’s damage or leave and be replaced by yet another Trump flack.
