Extra thanks
Does anyone ever think to thank the garbage pickup guys who have been here faithfully every pickup day to keep our neighborhoods clean? Do you give them a wave and yell “thank you” when they go by? Think what your street might look like without them.
Pet projects?
Why did the Mississippi Aquarium get over $800,000 in CARES Act funding? So much for the talking point of many state governments including Mississippi that the funds should not be used for pet projects. Funding the aquarium with CARES funds sounds like funding pet projects to me.
Aquarium prices
After seeing the prices to get into the aquarium, I wonder how many local families with two or three children can afford to visit it. By the time you add something to eat or drink and a souvenir, the cost will be well over $200. Need at least a Harrison County lower family plan.
A sale killer
Stores, educate your employees! I was reading labels on a shelf when an employee, leading another customer, walked up and reached in front of my face to take an item from the shelf. Six feet? His hand was 6 inches from my nose! In normal times, this would have been rude. During a pandemic, it’s inexcusable.
Meat supply
Someone the other day mentioned the shortage of meat due to the virus situation, and I mentioned that I hardly ever eat meat, which greatly surprised them. I am not a vegetarian, although I easily could be one. I find it hard to understand the belief that meat is an essential part of the American diet when it is not necessary to a healthy diet and harmful to the environment.
Know the difference
Quarantine is when you restrict the movement of sick people. Tyranny is when you restrict the movement of healthy people. Be careful America.
MS only
The Gaming Commission was fast to close all casinos by March 16. Hope they seriously consider only allowing customers with a valid Mississippi Driver’s License to enter upon reopening. That is to say, no buses from highly infected states, example being Louisiana.
