Island fever
We are told that it is healthy and safe to go outdoors, experience nature and get some fresh air and sunshine. Then why are Ship Island and Horn Island still closed?
Thank you
Kudos to the librarians at the West Biloxi Library for handling curbside pickup in such an efficient manner. The readers in the area appreciate you!
Good news
In the hospital with coronavirus for 64 days -- 31 of those-- on a ventilator, a 54 year old skier was “patient zero” in Burbank, California with a 1% chance of survival. On Friday he beat the odds and left the hospital -- to the cheers of the entire hospital staff! Sometimes the good guys win!
High school grads
In view of these strange and perilous virus times, it seems that the graduates would be well-served to attend one of the fine local colleges on the coast rather than go to a very crowded campus out of the area where transmission is more likely. Common sense.
Unemployment living
Can someone explain to me how $211 a week of unemployment is enough to buy what is needed to live? This has not increased through the years. Do not get me wrong I thank our government to have this benefit but why has it not been raised through the years? After this $600 expires in July, I am not sure how I will make it on $211 a week, especially with a mortgage, car payment and all the utilities. Anyone know how we can call for a increase in this privilege?
Gym vs. Casino
If you can open a sweaty, heavy breathing gym, then you can definitely open a huge airy casino! The livelihood of Mississippians depends on it. Louisiana is opening theirs, so should we.
Same side?
The 150 or so protesters Saturday afternoon in Biloxi were protesting local mayors’ and the governor’s COVID-19 orders. They all appeared to be Republican voters. Are they so ignorant they don’t know the Biloxi, Gulfport, Ocean Springs, Long Beach mayor’s and Gov. Reeves are all Republicans?
